Meeting began at 7:00 pm

Carleen welcomed the parents to the Band Booster Meeting and advised that we have had some

leadership changes.

Carleen is now President – Michelle stepped down.

Tracy Hendrix is now Vice President

Fundraisers:

 Fruit

o Fruity Fridays – incentive to turn in orders each week

o Kids can win a cinch bag with the WHHS Band logo

o Terri advised the Board only that she is working with Danielle LaTourette to get a larger lock box for

the envelops. Danielle is also helping her with data entry.

 Wendy’s

o Profit Night will be Tuesday, Oct 11 th from 5:30 to 8:30 pm

o Have to mention you are with the band

o We will work on distributing flyers around the school and band feed schools.

Possible to add to the school announcements and phone message? See if we can

add WHHS to Wendy’s sign for that night.

 Spirit wear orders are due this Friday so they can be back in time for Upper State

competition

 Sponsors

o WE still need to actively recruit sponsors

o Walmart and Walmart Neighborhood Market have contributed to the competition

food

o Costco has donated $50 gift card.

Volunteer Needs:

 We have 4 football games left

 Concessions and chaperones needed

 3 competitions left

Schedule Changes:

 Next week is Fall Break

 Drum line will be going to Mauldin Thursday for Varsity away game. They will be riding with

the cheerleaders

 Color guard is practicing at WHHS Thursday

 Rest of the band has Thursday off

 Friday, Oct 14 th – Practice from 9-5pm

o Boosters will work on providing some sort of lunch (sandwich, pizza, etc) for the kids

o We will need to get a head count and maybe ask for $2.00/each

o Side note for Board – we have an extra $120 from competition funds to help pay for

this if needed

o Communication will go out by Friday, Oct 7 th .

Competitions:

 Pendleton – Oct 15 th

o This is a double header and will be a long day

o Nova is planning on providing kabobs for the kids

o We will need extra volunteers because the kids have to walk across the street

 Upper State – In Boiling Springs on Oct 22 nd

o We will be performing earlier in the day

o We have to place in the top 6 to be invited to State

 State – Columbia on Oct 29 th

o We will address the practice field issue if needed

 Hydration Concerns

o We are getting better each week

o Incorporating new techniques each week to be hydrate the kids

o Parents should make sure kids eat a healthy breakfast and drink plenty of water the

morning of competitions

Bands of America (BOA):

 Indianapolis November 11-13 th

 $75 down payment is due this Friday and rest will be due before the trip. Checks should be

made out to Greenville Band Boosters

 20-25 spots available

Question was asked about Senior Night? It is the last football game. We will get more information

regarding times and escorts before the next meeting.
