WEEKLY REMINDERS October 3, 2016

Here are some reminders and information about this week's activities from the Band Boosters and A.J. Pace, Director of Bands. Schedule for the week: No practice Monday Hopefully your kids already told you that part - use it to sleep, catch up on homework, have dinner at a normal time, etc. Practice resumes Tuesday. Boosters/Parent meeting, Tuesday, Oct. 4, 7:00 PM Please come a little earlier than usual pick up time to join us for some important reminders and discussion. Home football game Friday, October 7th (Homecoming)

5:45 PM – Call time (arrive wearing long black socks, black t-shirt and athletic shorts) and change into uniform 7:30 PM – Game Starts 10:00(ish) PM - perform AFTER the game 10:30(ish) PM – Clean and dismiss to cars in fire lane pick up area (please remember)

LAST CHANCE FOR BAND GEAR BEFORE UPPER STATE! ​If you want to show your WHHS band pride while cheering them on at the big Upper State competition (and at State, too), you need to order by this Friday, October 7th. Shirts, sweatshirts, polos, hats and more are available on the band gear order form:

FIRST DEADLINE FOR BANDS OF AMERICA TRIP IS FRIDAY For those of you eligible for the Bands of America trip in November, we have the following details:

  • Trip dates: November 11 - 13 (departing at 2pm on Friday)

  • Cost: $150 which includes 2 hotel nights and bus transportation, 2 breakfasts and one dinner, and tickets to the event

  • $75 due by October 7

  • $75 due by October 21

  • (take money for additional meals)

  • The number of spots available will be determined after the Greenville High School Band has reserved their spots (estimating 20-25 spots for WHHS)

  • The full itinerary and trip form can be found on the website.

To go on the trip:

  • Spots will be reserved on a first come, first served basis to those who pay the $75 initial deposit.

  • Make checks out to Greenville High School Band Boosters.

  • Give your check to Mr. Pace (NOT the red box) and he will mark it with the date and time submitted. If you don't make the cut off, your check will be returned to you.

​BAND FRUIT SALE - START TURNING IN ORDERS! We've asked students to start turning in orders and money each week by Thursday to be eligible for the weekly "Fruity Friday" drawings.

  • Sale dates: September 1 - November 7

  • ONLINE ORDERS for early December pickup at https://www.floridaindianrivergroves.com/ecommerce/796163

  • Check orders should be placed in the envelope and checks made to WHHS Band Boosters.

  • Remember, we don't want to encourage anyone to use direct ship - we make 1/2 as much money on those orders.

HAVEN'T VOLUNTEERED YET? WONDERING HOW YOU CAN HELP? THINKING WE DON'T NEED YOU?

WE DO!!

We still need volunteers to sign up for shifts in all volunteer areas, and there are more than 100 spots available. We'd love to reach participation at 50% or more by the end of the season - please consider helping us if you haven't yet.

NEW VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS As you may have learned from recent emails from the school, the school district now has specific requirements for volunteers with the school. For band volunteers, you can still volunteer without meeting the new requirements, but we'd love for you to go ahead and apply for Level 2 approval as soon as possible.

A REMINDER ABOUT PICK UP Thank you for your cooperation on the new pick up location through the fire lane at the side of the school. However, please note, the gates will only be open for 30 minutes after scheduled pick up time. Please be on time to pick up your child so that everyone can get home to their families.

Wendy's Fundraiser Night Tuesday Oct 11 5:30pm - 8:30pm Next Tuesday after practice, pick up some healthy options from Wendy's on Wade Hampton Blvd Mention you are with the Wade Hampton Band and we will get a percentage of the money!
