BAND NOTES - July 8, 2018

Here are some reminders and information about band activities from the Band Boosters and A.J. Pace, Director of Bands.

BAND CAMP IS LESS THAN A MONTH AWAY! 22 days, to be exact!

STUDENTS - now is the time to start preparing!

1. Get ready for Band Camp

It is VERY important that you begin to prepare your body for camp.

  • You will be outside.

  • It will be very hot.

So now is the time to:

  • Evaluate your diet and start drinking more water.

  • Increase your current amount of physical activity.

  • Spend some time outside.

  • Begin playing your instrument again.

2. Plan ahead for band camp routine:

  • Eat a healthy breakfast.

  • Eat good protein. Avoid breakfasts that are heavy in sugar. Drink lots of water.

  • Wear tennis shoes and socks.

  • Wear lightweight clothing.

  • Bring your water jug filled every day (you'll get these on the first day)

  • Find a small backpack or draw-string bag and stock it with other things you'll need - hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, bug spray, small towel

PARENTS - need you to get ready too!

1. Do that Digital Paperwork

Returning parents - please login, update your info and complete the band form and agreement.

New parents - please set up your account and complete the band form and agreement as soon as possible.

This official step helps us plan for the number of students and also sets up a way you can complete forms, make payments and view the account for your student(s).

To Date - only 11% of parents have completed the form. Yikes! We need 100% before Band Camp!

To access the Membership Portal any time, visit the band website at www.whhsbands.com and click the LOGIN link at the top - or go directly to the portal by visiting https://whhsbandboosters.membershiptoolkit.com/.

2. Pay the first portion of the band fee by Band Camp.

Review the new fee structure and the ways you can reduce the amount at this link, (starts slide 7), but please make sure you begin payments by band camp (before would be better).

3. Pick your volunteer slots

We have many volunteer needs in a variety of areas, requiring varying levels of time commitment, and one or two or more are perfect for you! And remember, volunteering can help reduce your band fee!

Visit our SignUp.com page and go ahead and pick a few spots before your calendar gets too full.

4. Join us for a parent social!

Monday, July 30, 7 pm

On the first evening of band camp, come early to meet other band parents, ask any questions you may have, and watch rehearsal to see what they are working on. It will make it that much better when you see the final result 10 days later!

FOOD FUNDRAISER all you have to do is eat!

On Tuesday, July 17, 5 to 8 pm, get ready for barbeque from Smokehouse 29! Dine in or drive through, a percentage of all go toward the band!
