WEEKLY REMINDERS September 26, 2016

Here are some reminders and information about this week's activities from the Band Boosters and A.J. Pace, Director of Bands. This week is one of three double-performance weeks we have this season. Please see the schedule below for both Friday and Saturday. Home football game

  • Schedule for this Friday, September 30th:

5:45 PM – Call time (arrive wearing long black socks, black t-shirt and athletic shorts) and change into uniform 6:15 PM – 8th grade band students arrive 7:30 PM – Game Starts – We perform AFTER the game 10:30(ish) PM – Clean and dismiss to cars in fire lane pick up area (please remember)

Competition - Byrnes High School

  • Schedule for this Saturday, October 1:

8:00 AM – Report to WHHS (eat a good breakfast before you arrive) 8:15 AM – Rehearsal in Stadium 10:30 AM – End rehearsal and load truck (all students participate) 11:00 AM – Dismissal – Students go home and eat lunch and shower/change 12:30 PM – Arrive at high school (wearing long black socks, black t-­shirt, athletic shorts) and change into performance attire 1:00 PM – Depart WHHS 1:30 PM – Arrive at James F. Byrnes High School and unload 2:00 PM – Warm­up for the show 3:20 PM – Arrive at Gate 3:30 PM – Perform and rock the house! 4:00 PM – Load truck 4:30 PM – Dinner 6:00 PM – Sit in stands and watch the rest of the contest 9:45 PM – Awards 10:15 PM – Depart James F. Byrnes High School 10:45 PM – Arrive at WHHS – Unpack - Clean 11:15 PM – Dismiss to cars in fire lane pick up area (please remember)

A REMINDER ABOUT PICK UP Thank you for your cooperation on the new pick up location through the fire lane at the side of the school. However, please note, the gates will only be open for 30 minutes after scheduled pick up time. Please be on time to pick up your child so that everyone can get home to their families. DETAILS ON BANDS OF AMERICA TRIP For those of you eligible for the Bands of America trip in November, we have the following details:

  • Trip dates: November 11 - 13 (departing at 2pm on Friday)

  • Cost: $150 which includes 2 hotel nights and bus transportation, 2 breakfasts and one dinner, and tickets to the event

  • $75 due by October 7

  • $75 due by October 21

  • (take money for additional meals)

  • The number of spots available will be determined after the Greenville High School Band has reserved their spots (estimating 20-25 spots for WHHS)

  • The full itinerary and trip form can be found on the website.

To go on the trip:

  • Spots will be reserved on a first come, first served basis to those who pay the $75 initial deposit.

  • Make checks out to Greenville High School Band Boosters.

  • Give your check to Mr. Pace (NOT the red box) and he will mark it with the date and time submitted. If you don't make the cut off, your check will be returned to you.

​BAND FRUIT SALE - NEW INFORMATION! At the beginning of the sale, the students were told that we make more money for orders that choose direct ship. Please note, this is not actually the case. While this option is available on most items, we don't want to encourage anyone to use direct ship - we make 1/2 as much money on those orders.

  • Sale dates: September 1 - November 7

  • Check orders should be placed in the envelope and checks made to WHHS Band Boosters.​


We still need volunteers to sign up for shifts in all volunteer areas, including many spots for this weekend's competition! Thank you to all of you who have already volunteered to help with various roles.

  • So far, 33 of 79 parents on our roster (42%) have signed up for at least one spot.

  • We still have 194 spots to fill for you to choose from.

NEW VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS As you may have learned from recent emails from the school, the school district now has specific requirements for volunteers with the school. For band volunteers, you can still volunteer without meeting the new requirements, but we'd love for you to go ahead and apply for Level 2 approval as soon as possible.

5 MORE TIMES FOR CONCESSIONS - DONATIONS NEEDED Do you shop at Sam's, Costco, or Walmart? We have items we need in larger quantities for concessions, and if each band family picked up one item on their next shopping trip, we could turn each into a larger profit for the band.
